Your registration appointment is the exact date and time your window opens. It's not the same as the term's start date or the registrar's published opening date. Here's where to find your specific time in the most common student portals.
A registration appointment is the moment your window unlocks. The registrar publishes the school-wide opening date (e.g., "Fall registration opens April 7"), but your personal appointment can be any time during the registration period. Until your appointment hits, the system blocks you from enrolling.
Common at schools that recently migrated to Workday for student records. The lookup path is short once you know where to click.
If your school's Workday is configured differently, search the global search bar at the top of Workday for "registration appointment" — that usually surfaces the right task.
Banner is the longest-running student information system in US higher education, used at hundreds of universities. The interface varies by school skin, but the data path is consistent.
Some Banner installations call your appointment a "registration information sheet" — same thing, different label.
Used by many state systems and large universities. Often branded under the school's own name (MyUI, MyCSULB, MyUCLA, etc.) but the underlying menu structure is similar.
Three common reasons your appointment isn't visible:
Once you've found your date — or as soon as the registrar publishes it — set a reminder so you're not refreshing the portal a third time. See course registration reminders for the setup, or check the typical Fall, Spring, and Summer windows.
Set a reminder for your registration appointment:
Done in seconds. No sign-up required.
Sign into Workday and open the Academics Hub from the menu in the top left, then look for "Find Registration Appointment" or click the "Registration & Courses" tab. Your assigned registration appointment date and time appears on the right side of that screen.
Log into your school's portal (myBama, MyUW, etc.), open Banner Self-Service, then go to Student → Registration → Time Tickets or "Check Registration Status." Your assigned time slot is listed there. The exact menu name varies slightly by school but the path is similar.
In PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or your school's Student Information System, go to Student Center → Enrollment → Enrollment Dates, or look under "Manage Classes" for an "Enrollment Appointments" link. Your time slot for the upcoming term will be listed.
A registration appointment is the specific date and time when your registration window unlocks. You can register at or after that time, but not before. The appointment is assigned by the registrar based on your priority tier and credit hours.
Registration appointments are usually published two to four weeks before the registration window opens. If you don't see one yet, the registrar may not have posted them. Check the official registrar calendar for when appointments will be available, then check back the week of.
Most schools assign times based on total credit hours earned, with seniors going first. Within a tier, times are usually staggered by minutes or hours to spread server load. Some schools also factor in honors status, athletic participation, or special priority groups.
Set an email reminder when you find your appointment. We'll handle the rest — no more refreshing the portal hoping the date changed.
